I’m not one to embrace “quick fix” diets or exercise programs, but I want to point out a book which has motivated me to change everything about my diet and fitness routine and take my health and fitness seriously: Men’s Fitness Magazine’s 12 Week Body Plan by Nick Mitchell.
What resonates most to me in this book is the fact that it isn’t re-inventing diet and fitness but rather, is reconfirming what several trainers have been telling me: I am eating too little, doing too much cardio, and am spending too much (ineffective) time in the gym. The diet program also happens to be essentially Gluten-Free without promoting itself as being so.
I began this program on March 4, 2013, at a truly low point in both my physical as well as mental health. I will post my progress in future posts.
One of this book’s flaws is that it makes a very intense diet and workout routine sound easy. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone who is not already working out on a regular basis. It also recommends what I consider to be extreme and superfluous supplementation: I chose to incorporate only 2 or 3 of the 40+ supplements recommended.
This program is not for everyone: It is only for those who are serious about making a change in their lives. Are you ready for a change?
This is a UK publication, so be prepared for some metric conversions. Check it out on Amazon.
